Contemporary Choir

     The Contemporary Choir, is under the direction of John Scalea who was hired in 1983 by the Pastor, Fr. Thomas J. Lehning. John composes, and arranges liturgical music at Saint Thomas à Becket giving new expression and style to traditional hymns by
presenting them in a contemporary style arranged for varied musical instruments including guitar and piano. The Contemporary Choir currently furnishes the music for the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Much of the music used by the Contemporary Choir is either composed or arranged by John Scalea.
     The choir is accompanied by John, playing bass guitar, (2) other guitarists, a pianist, and occcasionally: a horn and/or a string section, hammer dulcimer, banjo, lute and the group is open to including even more instruments so, additional voices and musicians are always welcome.
